Community Meals 2006

Watch the video

When I took this video, my camera was having problems (still is) which would not permit me to download to the computer. But I've since borrowed a camera and was able to get all of the Christmas video processed.

This is the Community Meals, which takes place each December 24. It's sponsored by the local Co-op market, all run by volunteers, and is open to anybody in town who would like to come. While probably the majority of people who come are homeless or low income, a lot of other community members come too and a wonderful time is had by all.

The event is organized by my friends Shelly and Ellen.

Betty is 90

Watch the video
One of my mother's good friends, who lives in the state of Washington, turned 90 a week or so ago. Her family had sent out e-mail requests for people's "favorite Betty story" that they would share with her at a small family dinner on her birthday. Well, because of my mother's accident, and because I didn't think to check her e-mail (and she can't get to her Web-TV in her wheelchair), I didn't find out about it until too late. So I had her make this video that they can (I hope) show to Betty.

And the fight continues

Watch the video
It's another Valentine's Day and we were once again at the county recorder's office, attempting to get marriage licenses for gay and lesbian couples. This year we had the twist of court recorder Freddie Oakley having made international news with her decision to "join the fight" and issue "certificates of inequality." There was lots more media, more protesters (though surprisingly not all that many) and no marriages which were permitted to take place.

Retirement - Part 3

Watch the video
In addition to the PowerPoint presentation, there was also a slide show, with photos I sent, his sister sent, and Ned sent. They used Lawsuit music for background and it turned out just great.

Retirement - Part 2

Watch the video

This is the PowerPoint presentation that was made at Walt's retirement party. I filmed the screen, so I could include the narration that went along with it.

It helps to understand that Walt worked for the Department of Agriculture for nearly 50 years.

Officially Retired

Watch the video

Though Walt retired on January 3, they didn't get around to having his retirement party until tonight. But it was well worth the wait. I will have 3 or 4 video excerpts from the event. Tonight's is the start of the party and the kids' musical contribution to the evening.

The emcee for the evening was a man named Charles Davis, who has worked with Walt for about 30 years.

Daddy Dearest

Watch the video
My father, who died in 1987, was not the best person in the world. During her convalescence, my mother (who divorced him long before he died) talked with my cousin about what he was like at the time of his death. It's a good thing the TV stations didn't get wind of it, or we would have made the news.

New Cast

Watch the video
Finally able to upload some videos.  This is the day I took my mother to the orthopedist to get her hard cast put on.  She explains how she happened to break her ankle and the "small world" story from the nursing home.
