Magazines
Over on YouTube, someone was asking people to talk about the magazines and periodicals they read, so this is my response to that question.

Polynesian Dances
On our trip to Hawaii, we visited the Polynesian Cultural center and watched the dance show. My favorites always are the Tahitian dancers. How do their hips move so fast?

Lordy, Lordy
Today was the picnic/party for the five offspring in our group who are turning 40 this year. I managed to edit 36 minutes of video down to 4 min and 45 seconds of highlights.

Mexican Won Ton
This used to be one of my favorite appetizers to make, but I haven't made it in probably 10 years or more. You can't even find the recipe on line, so here is the recipe...and instructions for how to fold won ton.

Art
I came across this little art display at a theatre we attended recently. It bothered me. A lot.

Thar she blows!
I love this video. The quality isn't good. It was taken in 1992 on the Big Island of Hawaii, standing at South Point, the southernmost point in the United States. The wind was blowing fiercely and there was a pod of whales out in the ocean, all cavorting about. I didn't have a great zoom on the camera, and actually, I wanted to WATCH them, not film them, so I aimed the camera in their general direction and just shot footage, and hoped for the best. This was one experience I wanted to live "live."
But I'm happy with what I got and you can definitely get a feel for how much activity there was out there, even if I couldn't get "up close and personal."

Orchids
We visited an orchid garden outside of Hilo on The Big Island. I never realized orchids were so many and so varied.

International Pop Overthrow
One reason Jeri is here is for the "International Pop Overthrow," where the Preoccupied Pipers puts on a 15-20 minute show (along with several other groups). After our BBQ the other night, they did the show for all of us, as a sort of second rehearsal. They will be performing in SF tonight (Tuesday)

Snickers
Ashley asked if I could take a 4th puppy, one who was the same age as the other three.? I said yes.? Unfortunately, the original puppies seem to hate her and we have to move her on to another foster home... but not before taking some video!

Hawaii
Walt grew up in Hawaii and so when we returned in 1992, the kinds of sightseeing we did wasn't your run of the mill tourist sightseeing.

Tour Waikiki
In 1992 we went to Hawaii. On our first day, we drove down along Waikiki, to see how much it had changed since I was there as a tourist in 1960 and Walt, who grew up on Oahu, had moved away in 1955.

Kimba in Charge
It was an accident, but Kimba seems to have figured out how to escape the torment of the puppies, at least briefly.

The Crayfish
This is another brief video from the family reunion. Someone had bought a bag of live crayfish to cook. What happened to this one shouldn't happen to a dog.

"The Prep"
In order to get ready for certain medical procedures, you sometimes have to undergo certain "preparations" beforehand...

SARTA Elly Nomination Ceremony
Tonight I attended the nomination ceremonies for the SARTA (Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance) 2005-2006 Elly awards. The awards themselves will be presented in September--these are just the nominees. But I took along the camera and made a very brief documentary.

The Music Man
After I reviewed the show this week, I decided to watch the first performance of the show that Jeri and Paul were in, back in the 80s.? 1980???

The Washers Tournament
Uncle Bill created this game many years ago--I don't know if he had seen something like it before or if he invented it.? In any event, this has become a staple at all reunions.? We held a big tournament and I didn't do as badly as I expected...my partner (Matthew) saved us, but we actually made it into the finals...but we didn't win.

Memories of 1982
I mention in my journal today that we went to see a production of Ruddygore in Walnut Creek. It reminded me of other productions of this musical we have seen, and people we knew who were involved.

We have more new puppies. These guys are 5 weeks old and were a bit hesitant about coming out into the open with Sheila around when they arrived this morning.

Hawks and Dogs
Inspired by John Denver's "Eagles and Horses," this is a brief video I shot out in the country when I went to pick Sheila up from the kennel.
