This from the web site of Acme Theatre: (Note: Brecht titled the play Der gute Mensch von Setzuan. Though the play is often performed as The Good Woman of Szechwan in a translation by Eric Bentley, we have chosen to use the more poetic work of the noted translator, Ralph Manheim who uses the more literal translation of the German word "mensch" to mean "person." "Szechwan" is the contemporary spelling of city's name.)
