Ants

Ants are fascinating. When they aren't crawling all over my counters. I watched "The Violent Planet" today and in one segment on flooding, they showed a type of ant where, when the ground began getting saturated, would "pack up" all the larvae, queen, and food, then all join together and float down the river, looking like a piece of wood on the water. If the weather gets too hot, they take the larvae and dip them in the river to cool them off. Then, when they hit land, while scout ants go looking for a new home, the worker ants are carrying the larvae and getting the queen to the land so that they can move into their new home.

Absolutely fascinating.
